Born in Tibet in 1957, Rigdzing demonstrated predictive promise as soon as he could speak. Later, growing up in exile in India with other first-generation Tibetan refugees, Rigdzing spent his formative years studying under some of the leading scholars of old Tibet. The blessing of receiving teachings in Tibetan history, culture, language, and philosophy from these eminent masters has been one of the great joys of his life.
The proud father of two artist children (one of whom is transgender), Rigdzing believes in speaking the truth. As the proprietor of Pema Kharpo, he meets people from all walks of life and greets everyone with the same respect. He enjoys writing calligraphy and poems, and travels freely and often.
An accessible teacher whose exceptional wit brings clarity and delight to his commentaries, he follows in the path of his ancestors, yogis of Ganden Tse and Tashi Chopel monasteries (est. 1384) in Tingkhyé, Tibet.

“Last year my fiancé had a massive cardiac arrest and was on life support in an induced coma. The doctors told us his chance for survival was very very small. I was told if he did survive his brain would likely not function. His daughter visited Pema Kharpo and informed Rigdzing of her father’s state. Rigdzing, out of the goodness of his heart, looked up his birth data and told her that her father was a strong man and would survive. He recited some mantras and gave her a bracelet to wear and gave her one to give me to wear and provided an amulet to put on her father's chest.
I was at the hospital and received a call from her after her visit with Rigdzing, she was happy and hopeful. I was to say the least very skeptical. When she got back to the hospital she asked the nurse to place the amulet onto her father’s chest. The nurse was very kind and taped it to his chest. We then went to dinner while his brother stayed at the bed side. While we were out I received a phone call; my fiancé had opened his eyes and he seemed aware! We came back to the hospital and sure enough he opened his eyes and there seemed to be recognition, even though he was still on full life support. Everyone was crying tears of joy including the medical staff. At that point his heart started to get stronger on its own and he was - 8 days later - taken off life support.
His nickname among the medical team was "miracle man". Every single person from cardiologist to neurologist to family and friends said "it's a miracle". Life is pretty normal for us now and he is doing well. I believe Rigdzing had a big part in this!”
